Temporary Visa Subclass 485

The Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand have introduced a provisional skills Assessment procedure for applicants wishing to be granted a temporary visa subclass 485.

Graduates who have an Australian qualification and wish to apply for a temporary subclass 485 visa can do so through the Department of Immigration and Border Protection for Australia.

Applicants need to hold the following:

  • A recognised qualification equal to an Australian Bachelor’s degree. The applicant could alternatively hold 12 units ofan  accredited Master’s degree in business, commerce, accounting or economics from a recognised Australian university.
  • The applicant must demonstrate that they have completed the mandatory competence at a tertiary level.
  • Evidence will also be required to demonstrate that they meet the English language requirement.

Regional differences do occur and it is advisable that applicants look to major cities like Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane, requirement rate in terms of vacancies vary, and there is also demand for accounting services in smaller town in many of the states.

A good example in Western Australia may be cities like Mandurah, Bunbury and Rockingham, in the north of Perth there a significant demand in the City of Joondalup

It is also worth checking out industrial areas like Welshpool and the areas around Osbourne Park and Innaloo.

The city of Fremantle, commonly known as Fremantle, is a port city in its own right and is 16 kilometres from Perth city, not only does this beautiful city offer jobs but there are many businesses located near Fremantle.
