The Temporary Skill Shortage Visa
This is a temporary visa, granted for up to 4 years. It lets an employer sponsor a suitably skilled worker to fill a position for which they can’t find a suitably skilled Australian.

There are four types of Temporary Skill Shortage visas granted. They are as follows;
a) Short-term Stream
This visa lets you live and work for your sponsor in Australia for 2 years. You can work up to 4 years in case of an International Trade Obligation (ITO) applies. While on this visa, you can travel to and from Australia as many times as you wish. The cost of this visa is from AUS $ 1,265. You can apply for Permanent Resident Visa if you meet certain eligibility criteria.

b) Medium-term Stream
This visa lets you live, work and study in Australia for up to 4 years. However, you will not receive any government assistance for studies. While on this visa, you can travel to and from Australia as many times as you wish. You can apply for Permanent Resident Visa if you are eligible. The cost of this visa is from AUS $ 2,645.

c) Labour Agreement Stream
This is for skilled workers nominated by employers who have a labour agreement with the government. This visa lets you live, work and study in Australia for a maximum of up to 4 years. However, you will not receive any government assistance for your studies. While on this visa, you can travel to and from Australia as many times as you wish. The cost of this visa is from AUS $ 2,645.

Eligibility for Short-term, Medium-term and Labour Agreement Streams
▪ Be nominated to work in occupations as follows;
– Short-term Stream visa holders to work on occupations on the list of eligible short-term occupations
– Medium-term Stream visa holders to work on occupations on the list of eligible medium and long-term skilled occupations
– Labour Agreement Stream visa holders to work in a specified occupation under the terms of a labour agreement
▪ Have at least 2 years of experience in your nominated occupation or a related field
▪ Have a relevant skills assessment, if required for your occupation
▪ Work only for your sponsor or an associated entity, unless exempted
▪ Work only for your sponsor in case of Labour Agreement Stream
▪ Meet minimum standards of English language proficiency, unless exempted
d) Subsequent Entrant
This visa is for family members of the Temporary Skill Shortage Visa subclass 482.
If they wish to join the primary visa holder in Australia and apply separately, this visa is granted. You can live, work and study in Australia as long as the visa is valid. The visa also lets you travel to and from Australia within its validity period. The cost of this visa is from AUS $ 1,265.
