Family Friendly areas in Perth
Want to emigrate to Perth with your family? It’s hard to know where to start when it comes to knowing where to set up home. Of course you may want to be near to the CBD for the purpose of securing a job, but like many metropolitan areas, the city’s not always the best place for a family with young children.
Perth and it’s surrounds do benefit from a pretty abundant coastline which is a very attractive selling point when it comes to emigrating to Australia. Like most cities the further you move out of the city – the more affordable life becomes with regard to house and renting prices, but you’ll not want to compromise on other amenities such as entertainment and education.
Fremantle is probably Perth’s most famous suburb, anyone who’s visited before will be keen to mention Little Creatures – the brewery come bar restaurant that sits on the fishing boat harbour next to Cicerellos – Fred’s premier fish and chip joint. Away from the waterfront you’ll find independent stores and restaurants as well as staples such as Hungry Jacks – Australia’s version of Burger King. On weekends you can wander around the hugely popular Fremantle Market which is a good representation of the boho vibe that runs through this beachside town. Speaking of which the two main beaches that Fremantle’s locals frequent are South Beach and Bathers. Fremantle also has a major hospital as well as great primary and secondary schools and is only a short 25 minute journey to Perth CBD.
Further out you’ll find Rockingham – a slightly sleepier town, life very much revolves around the beach here. You’ll find more affordable accommodation than in Freo, but slightly less to do. There are cafes and other eateries and of course primary and secondary schools. There are also private Catholic and Montessori schools in the area. Rockingham is also served by two main shopping districts including the Rockingham Beach high street and the Rockingham Centre.
Joondalup is another great option when it comes to family friendly areas within easy reach of Perth, which you can read more about here.
