Joondalup is a favorite city of new migrants. It is located 26 kilometers from Perth CBD. The town takes its name from Lake Joondalup. The Perth regional planning authority has developed a plan to create five sub-regional retails centers; these were Fremantle, Joondalup, Midland, Armadale, and Rockingham. The Western Australian parliament in 1973 endorsed this plan.
Joondalup become a city to the North of Perth in the late 1980’s and 90’s when housing and business began to populate the town. Since 2013 the Western Australian state government new strategy names Joondalup as an important regional hub.
Joondalup has attracted many migrants due to is the local appeal with beautiful wide roads and its state of the art shopping canter, there is a significant British and South African community as well as Indians, Chinese’s and South East Asians from countries such as Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Malaysia.
