Nominated occupation

Applicant eligibility for the “General skill Migration programme” is contingent upon their nomination of a skilled profession via the Consolidated Sponsored profession list (COSL) or the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) and subsequent assessment by the appropriate assessing authority.

Age

The age group into which an applicant falls when they submit their application will determine their final score. You will gain the most points if you are between the ages of 25 and 32, and no points if you are 45 or older.

English language proficiency

An applicant’s spouse or partner’s abilities may boost their total points if they match the fundamental conditions of the Australian General Skilled Migration programme.

Community language skills

If the candidate has proficiency in a recognised Australian community language at the interpreter or translator level, they will get 5 points.

Nomination and sponsorship

When the Australian or territorial government sponsors an applicant, the applicant receives points.

Pass mark

To qualify for a General Skilled Migration visa, an applicant has to obtain 60 points.
